swyvl Wins Thriving Cities Challenge at Coopérathon 2025

swyvl is proud to announce its selection as the winner of the Thriving Cities Challenge at Coopérathon 2025, Canada’s largest open innovation competition focused on social and urban innovation.

Coopérathon is a national event powered by Desjardins that brings together entrepreneurs, researchers, students, and public institutions to co-create solutions that improve life in cities. The program is known for supporting high-impact startups that align with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. Through a structured multi-week journey, participants receive expert mentorship, business development tools, and access to a growing innovation ecosystem in Canada.

Building Smarter, More Inclusive Cities

The Thriving Cities Challenge asked how technology, data, and science can improve urban life by making cities more inclusive, resilient, and equitable.

By using immersive and evidence-based learning, swyvl helps cities and institutions improve accessibility, psychological safety, and social inclusion at scale.

Why This Recognition Matters

Winning the Thriving Cities Challenge validates our core belief that inclusion is a design principle, not an afterthought. A truly smart city is one that supports all kinds of minds, abilities, and experiences. swyvl offers a proactive approach to create more accessible infrastructure, foster acceptance in leadership, and support the well-being of diverse communities.

This award also highlights swyvl as a key innovator in the intersection of XR technology, neurodiversity education, and urban resilience.

Gratitude and Next Steps

We are deeply grateful to Coopérathon, our mentors, and the Thriving Cities Challenge partners including IVEO, VIA Rail, MT Lab, and the Port of Québec. Their support and shared commitment to inclusive innovation have been invaluable.

As we move forward, swyvl will continue its mission to foster a world where differences are celebrated and inclusivity is the norm.

Together, we can build cities where everyone belongs.
